Fiumicino: the archaelogical area of Portus and the Necropolis in Isola Sacra are open to the public

The archaeological area of the Imperial Harbours of Claudius and Trajan and the Necropolis of Portus in Isola Sacra are open to the public, with new safety measures for preventing Covid-19 contagion.

From August 6th 2021 COVID Certificate is required to access the Archeological Park of Ostia antica.

The timetable of the opening days and hours can be consulted on the dedicated page.

Organized groups accompanied by guides can visit the archaeological site only during the opening days.

All the visitors must wear a protective mask to cover both the nose and the mouth and observe the social distancing of 1 meter. At the entrance, an authorized operator will measure the body temperature of each person. Whoever has a body temperature equal to or higher than 37.5°C will not be able to access the arcaeological area.

The visit itinerary is free from restrictions, except for the area overlooking the Lake of Trajanus (closed to avoid gatherings) and for the Darsena (one way itinerary from the Magazzini of Trajanus).

Organized groups accompanied by guides will observe the same rules provided for the visit to the archaelogical area of Ostia antica. Groups up to 10 people + guide are allowed withouit the use of special devices and groups up to 25 people + guide are allowed with the use of audio devices (whispers).

Necropolis of Portus in Isola Sacra

A specific directional signage shows the visit itinerary. It's possible to access only inside the monumental tombs n. 97, 86, 76 and 75, one person at a time, in order to avoid gatherings. All the other monumental tombs can be visited only from the outside.
